General question about Zarafa users on a Blackberry Server

    Hello,

I have installed ZCP 7.0.6 together with a BES Express 5.0.3
During the installation of both components there where no errors.
When I set the log level to 6 in /etc/zarafa/server.log I see the following login after a reboot of the Win2k3 machine hosting the BES:

User stefan from 192.168.xxx.xxx authenticated through User supplied password using program BlackBerryMailStoreSrvr.exe
User stefan from 192.168.xxx.xxx authenticated through User supplied password using program BlackBerryAgent.exe

Do I have to create accounts for every Zarafa user who should be able to sync data with his Blackberry or should the BES import the users from the Zarafa server?
Currently the BES does not list the Zarafa users and just want to be sure whether this is okay or not.

    Thanks for any hints,

    Stefan

    Hello Stefan,

You need to add a administrator account on the BES server. This user will open all the stores for the users with a blackberry.

maybe I misunderstand you, but the Account stefan is an administrator account on the Zarafa server and since I find login entries in server.log, I thought that this account is used to get the list of Zarafa users.

    Thanks,

    Stefan

    Hello Stefan,

Yes it is used to get the list of users but also the user who accesses the stores of all the blackberry users. This is how blackberry works.

do you have any idea how I can find out, why I do not get a list of the Zarafa users on the BES server?
Shouldn't it be possible to search for example for my own Zarafa account in the web interface of the BES?
If this was a permission problem, I guess I should find an error in the server.log.

    Thanks,

    Stefan

    Hello Stefan,

If you followed the manual you should be able to get your users. You can also check the BES log files. The most useful BES logs are the MAGT logs.

Sounds like an issue between BES and AD.
Isn't the BES searching in the AD for Users and their Email addresses?
Your user for BES needs to be Zarafa-admin and Domain-admin.
