iCal on Mac using calDav - Internal Server Error

    Hi Everybody,
i have a Zarafa installation with 30 users, with a couple of Mac users. Zarafa version is 6.40.3 (if i recall correctly).
Once the Mac users are set up it seems to work a while, but now they get the following error message and can't sync correctly since then.

    an Vorgang CalDAVRevertEntityQueueableOperation.
an Vorgang probably is something like during operation in english.

Mac OS 10.6.x - i have 2 Users with the same Problem, so i guess it's transferable. The Problem dissapears for a while when i remove & add the Calendar.

    Any ideas would be appreciated
    Martin

Re: iCal on Mac using calDav - Internal Server Error

Here's the Error log from ical.log, but this is with Log level 2. If this doesn't help, i can replay the whole thing with Log level 6 (is there a log level 6, the config says only to go up to 5)
    Distro is Ubuntu 10.04
Reproducing this error is kind of tricky, but i'll try to get more info on that too.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi crazeDave,

Ya you can set the debug log level to 6, it prints out all request and response.
you can remove all sensitive info from the log like the Authentication header and sensitive info in ical data.

The log shows that the zarafa-ical crashes while adding a entry with specific ical data(probably a meeting request).
The log @ lvl 6 will help me easily find the problem.

    Regards,
    Diptesh.

Re: iCal on Mac using calDav - Internal Server Error

    Hi Diptesh,
i uploaded the ical.log and mangled it a bit so there is not enough personal information for anyone to do something bad with it.
I hope you can help me with that case.
I don't know if that is related, but i also have the problem described here:

whenever an external invitation is received from a Mac (send from an external Mac to Zarafa).

The user didn't create a new invitation but tried to sync the calendar, it appears to try the same thing every sync.
Also if Appointments are created in the webif, they appear twice in iCal on the Mac.

Re: iCal on Mac using calDav - Internal Server Error

    Hi crazeDave,

There are three issues in your case.

    1) The crash in
    2) Issue with HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error
    3) Meeting request issue in

Here (3) is a known issue and the fix will be available in 6.40.6. A workaround to for this issue is to create the Folder named 'Outbox' in the root folder
for users with non-English folder names

To provide soln for issue (1) and (2) , i need the steps and ical.log (@lvl 6) to reproduce the issue.

    Diptesh

Re: iCal on Mac using calDav - Internal Server Error

    Hi Diptesh,
i'd say let's start from the bottom. For 3) i only habe to create an Outbox folder right beside the german one, right?

    2) For the HTTP 500 issue i have to look into how the users crashed that, i guess it was when inviting someone from ical, but i'll look into that and get you logs with my trusty testuser :-)

    3) This is kinda odd, because it seems only to happen when external ical events arrive, again trusty testuser > logs

    Thank you for your help
I'll probably be able to get the other 2 issue logs today or tomorrow.

    Regards Martin

Re: iCal on Mac using calDav - Internal Server Error

    Hi Diptesh,

I first investigated the Signal 11 Error, that was the first one
Here are the Steps to recreate that:
Send an Invitation from a MAC the Zarafa Server

Then i get this in /var/log/mail.log:
Also i get a non delivery notice for the mail with basically the same information as in the mail.log the only other information in the return mail is:
    and a
doesn't reveal anything, not even one entry with the same timestamp.
So which logs should i crank up?

As for the HTTP/500 error, i can't recreate what lead to that. But i'm still on that.

    Regards
    Martin

Re: iCal on Mac using calDav - Internal Server Error

    Hi Diptesh,
i have found out when the Server is not available, but i can't seem to get the HTTP/500 Error any more. It simply says connection closed from the mac.
    But i have replay instructions:
Create a New Calendar entry on a mac and invite a user (on the Mac) to that event.
Afterwards the Calendar won't sync any more, not even after removing the event.
If i try to sync Manually it says: Connection closed.

I added the Log as text file, hope this helps.

Re: iCal on Mac using calDav - Internal Server Error

    Hi crazeDave,

I tried to reproduce your issue in zarafa 6.40.3. But could not reproduce the issue.
I could reproduce the issue only when i upgraded my libical to 0.44-3(unpatched).

If you install the patched libical 0.44-2 version supplied by zarafa, the issue should not reproduce.
you can check your libical version in synaptic.

    Regards,
    Diptesh.
