Access Contacts from Evolution via CardDAV

    Hi everybody,

we just built a little CardDAV interface for Zarafa. It allows to access the contacts in read-only mode via CardDAV. We also put up a little docoumentation on the Wiki here:

We hope you'll find this useful.

Re: Access Contacts from Evolution via CardDAV

    Hi Robin,

it also made me very happy seeing my contacts in Evolution for the first time :-) I guess there are a few other people waiting for such an integration. BTW: We'll test it with the OSX address book application soon. Currently we only tried Evolution and folder mounting on Linux/Windows.

Maybe you could host the php file on the wiki somehow? I wasn't able to upload it as it always complains about the file type not being allowed for upload. Even when renaming it, the mime type is guessed from the content and then it's being blocked.

    Greetings
    Rainer

    Hi Rainer & Amin,

thanks for trying to fill this spot in the zarafa universe. I was really waiting for something like this. I just installed your carddav script on our Zarafa 6.40.3 server, but I keep getting this PHP error when accessing the side:
    Any hints?

Re: Access Contacts from Evolution via CardDAV

    Hi Timo,

you are right, we noticed this php warning on our server as well. We're also running 6.40.3. For me it's working with Evolution so far and I only get the warning occasionally (I guess on the first full sync or something like that). Amin tried to access it on his Mac, but it didn't work (he got a login error, despite correct credentials). We'll investigate this a little further in the next days, keep us updated if you find out anything, please. Btw: what client are you using? Did you try to mount the folder already?

EDIT: Ah, ouch! Just fixed that error and uploaded a new version (0.1.1). We used the getPropIdsFromString function incorrectly, there was some old code line hanging around in the logon function. Now the warning should be gone, but I guess this wasn't the actual problem for you...

Re: Access Contacts from Evolution via CardDAV

Connecting with a webbrowser just gets me a blank page (and that error message I posted before). After your last post I tried to configure Mac OS (10.6.6) Adressbook, but it won't connect. It says it cannot find the Account preferences for the CardDAV Server and that I should check if the server address and my credentials are correct. At least I'm sure my username and password is correct. I tried different setting for the server part, but non worked

At the moment I seem to have some problems with our apache installation. So maybe it'll work after I solved this... I'll report back later.

Re: Access Contacts from Evolution via CardDAV

So, I did some more tests:

When I try to call the address with a browser, I'm prompted for my username and password. After entering both I'll get a blank page and in my apache log there's something like this: I also tried to connect with Mac OS Addressbook. It was a little bit complicated to configure it correctly, as you first have to create the account and after that you can edit it and enter the correct settings. But I always get these messages when trying to connect with Mac OS Addressbook: Regards,

    Hi Timo,

access via web browser will not work, that's true; we only implemented the commands needed for WebDav access. But mounting it as Webdav folder (via 'Connect to Server') should work for now and you should be able to see a folder full of vcf files. We'll look into the issue with the OSX Addressbook tomorrow evening...

    Hi Rainer,

    mounting does indeed work.

I'm looking forward for any progress on the Addressbook part. Let me know if there's anything I can do to support you on this thing.
