    Long loading times in webaccess

    Hi!

In the last few days we have experienced really long loading times in webaccess, several minutes on some occasions. I have logged in to the server and checked load and server logs and nothing is indicating that the server is having a high load or other problems.

Does anyone have any idea about how I should proceed with investigating the source for these errors?

The server is a ubuntu 8.04 server with zarafa 6.30.1. The server is only used for Zarafa.

Hmmm... Maybe a few more details could be helpful. Do you expect the loading times when you access the server via internet or even on local network? In case server is only accessible via internet because it is hosted somewhere, did you check firewall logs if there has been some DoS Attack maybe? Did the server maybe get under some SPAM Attack?

In case this does not help and situatation only occurs in WebAccess - maybe you can switch on debug log (But this takes additional time) to have a look at if there are some errors recorded in the requests itself?

Re: Long loading times in webaccess

    Hi!

    Thanks for the quick reply.

We are using the webaccess over the local network so the firewall shouldn't be an issue. I have been tailning the maillog as well for spamd messages and it appears to be about 1 spam message per minute or so. It doesn't feel like the amount we should recieve if it was a spam attack.

I can try to turn on the debug log. Which file do I have to edit to enable the debug mode?

    Regards

    Daniel

    Hi sverre,

The accounts where there is the problem are "zarafa admin" ?

Hi Diego, thanks for the reply!

I really do not understand what you mean. In what way is the zarafa admin account causing these problems? I still want to know how to get these isseus resolved. Everything is working fine for the moment but these long loading times has appeared from time to time in the last week, I guess they will come back unless I do something about it.

Re: Long loading times in webaccess

    Hi sverre,

since they don't exist now it makes no sense to enable debug logging. To enable it, copy the debug.php file from community webaccess to the webaccess folder and create a file called debug.txt in webaccess folder. Make the file writeable for your apache process and secure it against unauthorized access.

But imho you should be ready to have a look at system when the loading times raise. Especially find a way to check the overall network traffic during such times. My considerations about are more that there is some reason beside zarafa and webaccess that causes the problem. Maybe there is a necessarity to tune the db. Could it be that in that moment the performance issue occured some user did a large search/delete opperation? Was there maybe a big store deleted in background? Deletion in this case means load for zarafa server since all content of the store is being rewritten to public folder.

    Best regards

    Hi Andreas

Thanks for the input. I will enable debugging and try to see the network traffic overall during these periods with long loading times. I will post more info in this thread as soon as I have it

    Best regards

btw, where do I find the community webaccess for download? Isn't it available for download unless I register a new evaulation serial number?

Ok, thanks. I downloaded the "Zarafa AJAX Webaccess Source Package 6.30.2" package. Hope that's it! :-)
