    554 5.7.1 Relay access denied

    Hello,
I'm running Zarafa 6.30 + Ldap + Postfix with Multi Companie environment.

The problem is tha when using outlook to send emails via SMTP account I have an error:

I believe that I'm missing some entry in main.cf to Postfix validate user sender in Ldap.
Sending emails through webaccess or outlook connector is OK, so Zarafa is working OK.

Does anyone have an idea what entry I'm missing in my man.cf in Postfix to validate user sender in Ldap?

    Thanks for the help.

Re: 554 5.7.1 Relay access denied

    Hi brunomorais,

this could you did not allow relay for localhost/machine ip, dab.pt is not know as your local domain to postfix or that you require i.e. smtpd sasl/auth/ssl certificate (maybe many other reasons...).

    Please check first of all:
smtpd_recipient_restrictions (should allow permit_mynetworks, if not contained could result in no relay allowed)
mynetworks (should contain at least localhost and your machine ip)
mydestination (should contain at least your domain name used for sending the mail)
relay_domains (should contain at least $mydestination)

Hope this helps. If not, please post the output of postconf -n command.

    Best regards

    Andreas

Re: 554 5.7.1 Relay access denied

    Hello,
    Thanks for the post.

    In my main.fc:

    smtpd_recipient_restrictions - I don't have any value
    mynetworks - I don't have any value
    mydestination = $myhostname, localhost.$mydomain, localhost
    relay_domains - I don't have any value set

I use Ldap and not saslauth/auth or other.

    postconf -n

I know that users should authenticate for relay email for other domains that aren't in this server.
But the authentication should be the Virtual domains that are in the Ldap (The Zarafa users), I just don't know the option I should put in the main.fc .

Thanks once more for the help.

Re: 554 5.7.1 Relay access denied

    Hi Bruno,

... and this is exactly your problem if you ask me ... sorry, but afaik the smtp protocol allows only SASL Auth mechanism or plaintext if you'd like to use authentication. Since Plaintext is usually a bad advice only SASL remains. For Sasl you need to setup something like this

Other possibility is just to check on permin_mynetworks as you can see from my above example.

The SASL Auth Mechanism is defined in sasl2 smtpd.conf (usually found in /usr/lib/sasl2/)
But since you don't have "relay_domains = $mydestination" being set, I guess no relay occurs at all like you wrote in your first post. Additionally you should set "mynetworks = 192.168.100.0/24, 127.0.0.0/8" (or similar, so that the public/internal IP of your Zarafa server is being covered).

    Best regards

    Hello Andreas,
    Thanks for the post.

Well but using SASL when using the SMTP userswill authenticate in the system account correct? Or there is a way for users authenticate in Ldap?

Re: 554 5.7.1 Relay access denied - SOLVED

    Hello Andreas,
    Problem Solved.

First I had to configure /usr/lib/sasl2/smtpd.conf (my system is Centos 5 x64 so /usr/lib64/sasl2/smtpd.conf)

    Then I've created a file /etc/saslauthd.conf

    Changed also /etc/sysconfig/saslauthd

Finally I've inserted the postfix restrictions in /etc/postfix/main.cf

Now when sending email throw SMTP postfix validates with SASL and it uses Ldap plugin and it works great =)
Hopes ths helps other people with the same issue.

Anyway Andreas thanks for the help.
