    Help on Installation Debian Jessie

    Hello,
i want to test zarafa 7.2.4.29, hope this is latest stable. Documentation seems good, but is not complete. After first installation of *.deb and installing dependencies, i notice that the web-app is missing. After searching i found out, that i have to install it seperatly. Sorry but the whole installation is very obscure. Why not one or to packages for web and server only or what ever and all other packages can installed later via web-gui like plugins or like this? After reading the initial installation guide i scarry about what i installed. who should meintain that (upgrade os-dependencies and upgrades)?

Sorry for that, but i hope some can help and bring light into darkness, the product seems very cool. So which version is compatible with latest zarafa? Have i install all packages from downloadfolder for my language? What is WebAccess-Spreed and Zarafa4UCS for? How must i install WebMeetings?

    thx

    Hello Sunghost,

there is actually a more recent Zarafa final than 7.2.4, see https://forums.zarafa.com/showthread...7990#post57990 for more information. But if you are starting new I would recommend to look into Kopano instead. Kopano is the successor of Zarafa and the place where all new development is happening right now. See https://kopano.com/how-to-get-kopano/ for more information.

If you are looking for something that comes with a management gui and simplified installation and maintenance, then a distribution integrating zarafa/kopano may be worth a look. You already mentioned zarafa4ucs, which is the integration package of Zarafa in Univention. The same exists for Kopano and comes bundled with the Kopano Univention Apps: https://www.univention.com/products/...g/kopano-core/

    Hello fbartels,
and thanks for your informations. Ok Version 7.2.5 ist the newest one, i saw this only as beta. Kopano ist the successor of Zarafa, but is there any community edition, i cant find one? i am looking at zarafa, because of its open-source and free use of community edition. as far as i read, zarafa will not longer developed and Kopano is only to buy?

edit: ok now i read some post about Kopano and it sounds not good to get a free groupware in stable version. To pay for that is not an solution for me, so i will look to another product.

    Hello Sunghost,

I already tried to argue against the "there is no community edition for Kopano" in https://forums.zarafa.com/showthread...-Kopano-stable, so I will not repeat all arguments I presented there.

Kopano is more open source, than Zarafa has ever been. Components that previously have been for paid customers only, have been redone with an oss license and are included in the provided packages and source code repositories.
