    KOE crash-orama

    Hi,

We are testing KOE to see if it is a valid replacement for the Zarafa Outlook Connector. Even with the last versions (1.2.108) and Outlook 2016 we've got complaints by Outlook of (too) slow loading and immediate crashing of the plugin. I thought first this was due to the presence of the old Zarafa connector, but after uninstalling it, the problem remains. The Z-push error logfile is empty, and the gab-sync.php -a sync shows valid output. Launching the Debug button crashed Outlook as well.

Anyone running this in a stable fashion?

    Cheers,

    BC

We have got the same problem and this is the perfect description for it! Outlook 2013 and 2016 crashes with the plugin - without we have no problems with z-push.

    Hello bc, Hello comfreak,

the "slow loading" sadly is expected since Outlook takes some time to initialise the .net stack we are using in the plugin. Normally we already add the add-in to the "do not disable" list when installing, so Outlook will give a warning, but should not disable on its own.

I would be interested in the crashes you get. Do you have a backtrace or some in the windows event log?

I am working here with KOE connected throug OL 2016 to three different servers, and don't experience crashes. (and also know from quite some customers that are using the extension as well)
    Regards Felix

How can I create such a backtrace?

I will check the Windows event log tomorrow with an employee.

Okay, we tested it again and Outlook was stable for ~20 mins. Then it crashed while doing nothing - he was talking to a colleague by phone.

    Here are the logs: logs.zip

Thanks for the logs. I've created for this and we'll be investigating this.

EDIT: looking at the koe.log we have seen that you have deleted the folder "EDV" and then moved it back to the inbox. This moving back added a the folder to the listener and while going through the messages of the folder it crashed. Previous crashes like these were seen on systems which are running low on ram. We'll add some further test cases for this.

Wait...EDV is a shared calendar and was not deleted - this account does not have any folder EDV in his postbox, even in the deleted folder.

Low RAM on which system? Server or client?

Edit: *the folder shared calendar has not been actively deleted by someone...

Edit2: I looked into the folder: 95 items in sum...

    Yeah...and that means for us...what?

We did not change anything like this, but the issue still occures. And now waiting for the devs?

The client is a HP Probook 650 G1 with 8GB RAM and nothing else was opened at that time, so there should be enough RAM for Outlook.
