high load and many http requests with kopano 8 and 6 active sync outlook clients BUG?

    Dear Forum,

i notice a very high load and frequent http requests serveral times per second with my 6 outlook clients (2016) connected with active sync over z-push.

    kopano-server 8.1.0.169-10.1
    z-push-common 2.3.0+8

Even though there are no updates on server side, clients still sending pings every second:

    Is this a normal behavior?
now only a single client is left in the office so the load "drops" to 4,00 :/
normally the load is around 10-12 when all clients are connected and that leads to a very poor response and several other issues :/ any help is greatly appreciated.

Is there more than one Outlook connected to the same user?
Update z-push, there are several OL load related fixes.

Yes. All 6 users using the same 2 mailboxes aside there personal ones.

Is this a general NOGO or just an issue that will / has been addresses with recent z-push versions?

I was going to say, that you probably ran into ZP-990, , but then I saw that this was still addressed in 2.3.0.
I guess you use KOE and you have read-only folders? Then you should be using 2.3.3beta1 (to be released today).

Please enable wbxml log so we can find out what's going on.
And yes, this should work fine. Please try upgrading first.

    Hello Sigmarb,

You are using almost all of your ram. Could it be that you are running out of ram with all users connected? in sum it comes up to 18 connections from outlook in your case, which is not really out of the world.

I updated to z-push 2.3.2+0 but not change. Load is around 10 with currently 4 users. We use KOE and some folders are of corse R/O.

I enabled WBXML-Log but this file is huge (1MB / second) and contains sensitive informations. Howto upload/provide?

@ Felix - yes that is possible. I can not follow your calculations. Mind elaborate on that "it comes up to 18 from outlook" ?

I was missing the word connections in my last sentence.

Six users all having their own account, plus two shared accounts (in sum three), so six times three equals 18.

Since you use KOE I am guessing you have a subscription. In this case you could include the logging in a support ticket (please compress it first).

Another edit: I just inserted code tags in your original posting and discovered that your kopano-server process is waaayyy bigger than even mysql. in normal cases it should be the other way around (since you want a nice and big buffer_pool in mysql for performance).

What kind of performance tuning have you done in my.cnf and server.cfg? Imho this should be resolved first before persuing the client issue, since it may very well be the reason for the z-push problems.

Last edit to be more clear: "many http requests" can be totally normal, since you have 18 client connections being triggered on changes, but this high load is in my opinion a result of the high memory usage and wrong tuning.

Indeed there was no tuning on this server. I just adjusted

as recommended by . Restarted the services and let the users connect again. Now - 10 minutes later, again:

Your ram usage is still too high. also please use [ code ] and [ / code ] around snippts (without the spaces, but otherwise he would replace it).
