"untitled attachment" when using Outlook 2016 as active sync client

    Hi!

I switched from outlook client to z-push active sync solution.
No big problems so far except this one:

Many attachments are't shown with their correct names but as untilteld (german: "unbenannte Anlage 012345")
In the Wepapp and on other Clients (iPhone) the problem doesn't exist.

Any idea, how to setup outlook to show the attachments names?

    Thanks
    Vogi

    Hello Vogi,

I dont think I have already seen what you describe. Can you provide a wbxml of the time such an email is synchronised to Outlook?

    Hi Felix,

i can reproduce this whenever I sent an attachment with special characters in the file name (äüö...) - but i also have attachment, which seem to have standard english letters only.
I sent you a wbxml via private message

    Regards
    Vogi

    Hello Vogi,

no wbxml received here, but I did a quick check and have send a mail with one attachment with an umlaut and one without. Both were displayed correctly (Outlook 2016, Z-push 2.3.1, KOE 1.0).
    Regards Felix

    Hello Felix,

    sorry for my delayed answer.
I did an upgrade from zarafa to kopano - but the problem still exists.

    What I can say:
Its not only a problem with umlauts in the attachment - but here I can reproduce it, when sending an mail from a webmailer to the kopano server.
    Inernal messages seem ok.

Only Outlook (2016) seems to be affected.
In Webapp, Windows Mail and on iPhones / iPads the attachments name is shown right.

    I made two WBXML logs.
Two identically mails - only diffence is the title and the name of the attachemnt (Attachment itself is the same)
Both sent from gmx.de to my server.

The attachment is shown corectly when named "abc.pdf"
Its renamed in Outlook to "Unbekannte Anlage 000013.pdf" when named "äöü.pdf" on sender side.

I will send you the link via private mail, as I don't want to mask any entries.

Could it be, that Outlook cannot handle UTF-8 named attachments?
Or is this some misconfiguration on my side:

    not working, when using umlauts:
    no problem with standard characters:
But the Subject using UTF Encoding doesn't produce any problem:
    Is worjing, too:
Thanks for any help in advance!

Well, yes, this log looks broken. What terminal do you use? In case of PuTTY, please check Window->Translation->Remote-character-set if it is set to UTF-8.

In order to debug this better: could you enable the option log_raw_message in your /etc/kopano/dagent.conf file, restart dagent, send such an email with a broken attachment to your server and send us the raw logged message?
This could be related to .
Your raw message should give us some more clues.

    Cheers,
    Sebastian

    Hello Sebastion,

I am using PuTTY and "Window->Translation->Remote-character-set" is set to UTF-8.
Otherwise I see a lot af "starnge" characters -the system runs nearly all locale setteings set to ""de_DE.UTF-8"

Here is is a logged mail (textfile named äöü.txt as attachment) which shows the same behaviour:

I replaced all private data - If you need a unmodified file, just let me know.

    Thank you
    Vogi

I got your logs (you'd sent to Felix) and it looks like you are running on an Gentoo system? How did you install Kopano?
I tried to deliver your emails (on an 8.2.0,444) and couldn't reproduce the issue.

    Hi Sebastian,

I am installing from source using the ebuilds provided here:

As I am the only one who seems to have this issue (and already had it with zarafa), it might be some missconfiguration in an other package used by kopano/zarafa.
Do you have any idea, what I can check? I have no idea and even not the knowledge were to start or what part in the chain goes wrong.

    Thank you
    Vogi

Really hard to say. I only thing I could imagine that perhaps not all vmime patches are applied to your system.
