Assign DeskApp to the MAILTO Protocol

    Hi,

before we installed the DeskApp, Thunderbird was the default application for the MAILTO protocol in out Windows 7 installation.

When starting the DeskApp, I agree that it should be the default application for email.

But when I check the settings, the MAILTO protocol is now assigned to "unknown application".
The problem now is, that in our ERP system when clicking on an email, windows tells us, that there is no application assigned to the MAILTO protocol.

Does anyone have an idea how to fix that?

    Thanks for any suggestions,

    Stefan

    Hi,

let me ask the question the other way round: Is the DeskApp expected to register itself as the default application for the MAILTO protocol or is this on the feature list?

I found a couple of entries in the registry, still pointing to thunderbird as the default application for the protocol.

    Hi,

I just did another test with a freshly create user.

After the first login, Outlook is the standard app for MAILTO. When assigning the DeskApp to the protocol, the MAILTO protocol disappears from the list of protocols.
I then started Thunderbird, agreed to let Thunderbird be the default app for MAILTO and the protocol is back in the list.

I guess the registry entry for the MAILTO protocol is changed in a way that windows can't read it anymore. Although I checked and compared a number of registry entries, I could find the difference.

    Regards,

    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,

Could you post your DeskApp version?
