    Zarafa-server hanging on soap_pointer_lookup() at 100% cpu

    We have a ZCP 7.0.12 that spawns hanging threads of zarafa-server. I know 7.0.12 old (upgrade is in the works), but I was wondering if maybe our problem is also fixable in 7.0.12, before upgrading.

    Zarafa-server is spawning threads that hang. Only kill -9 works to stop them. I attached gdb, switched to the LWP in question and did a backtrace:

    Any idea?

    Hello Halfgaar,

    while I can't find any mention of something soap_pointer_lookup related in our Jira, I can at least say that this call is part of gsoap. Gsoap has been upgraded for the 7.2 branch, so there is a chance that your issue has been resolved.

    In general when zarafa-server starts new threads (which is due to a watchdog process watching for old tasks in the queue) this could be an indicator that zarafa-server and mysql need some more tuning.
    Regards Felix

    In this case, it's starting a new thread because the old one hangs, I guess.

    This CPU graph of the last month shows nicely what's going on (see attachment).

    Hi, yes but also your iowait has increased. Imho this would be a good case to open up a support ticket so we could investigate this a bit further.

    I can do that, but I'm also going to upgrade as soon as possible, which takes away the test case (possibly). If you say to open a case anyway, I can.

    BTW, the disk back-end is a VM and is on DRBD, which introduces some extra IOWAIT.

    Hi, yes I think this would be the best. But you can also wait to see if the issue will still occur after the upgrade.
