7.2 zarafa-server Error while connecting to search on file:///var/run/zarafa-search

    Just upgraded to:
    Product version: 7,2,1,51272
    File version: 51272

Getting this in the server.log file:
The file /var/run/zarafa-search DOES NOT get created when I start zarafa-search. I've tried multiple restarts. I've tried pointing the socket file to a new location (/tmp or /var/tmp). This file NEVER gets created.

    Here is the search.cfg:
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the zarafa-search-plus package. It didn't fix the issue.

Any help on this? I've seen that others have the same issue, but I've not seen ANY clear resolution to this.

    Hello Caldwell,

do you get any messages on the search.log? The only thing I can see from your search.cfg is that you use an ssl certificate although you do not really need to use one (connect to zarafa-server via the file socket).
    Regards Felix

yes, the search appears to be running, itself

I get messages like this in the search.log:

along with many lines about the actual items (presumably) being indexed.

I currently have the server.cfg set to:
    search_enabled = no

    since it kept throwing errors.

Well in general the log (or at least the part you posted) looks fine. Could it be that he is still in he initial index run? zarafa-search will only create the socket once he is done with the initial index.

Ah. That's good to know. I wish things like this were clearly documented. It would have saved me a couple of hours of work during this upgrade cycle.

I've got it running with 15 threads, and it's still churning away 12 hours later. Quite a bit to index.

After it finished, I'll run through a restart and enable the index search again in server.cfg.

Yes, you're right this is somehow a "need to know" information, which was not documented in the manual. I just added a note block to the according chapter:

This is also not really neccessary. Up until the point the search socket has been created zarafa-server will automatically fall back to the database search.

OK. Good to know. But, again, if this kind of thing were documented about the way the software actually works, it would help those of us who administer the servers ... Maybe someone who does documentation will read this or pass it the person who does.

Have you read the part where I said that I added it to the documentation?

No. I actually read the E-MAIL alert from the forums which contained part of your answer. When I came back to the web-based thread, I saw this. Thanks for updating that.
