Switching user store from mysql to ldap

    Hello,

we are currently using mysql to store our users.

Since we intend to use the archiver in the future, we have to switch to ldap (or ads).

Is it enough to create the same user ids, including all their details (email address, full name, and so on) in ldap and then change user_plugin from db to ldap?

Thanks for any hints or suggestions,

    Stefan

    Hello Stefan,

depending on how much work you want to put into the migration (and depending on the amount of users) you could indeed just recreate the same user data in ldap and the rehook the stores with zarafa-admin (mailbox couplings are done in internal user id and not username).

Downside of this is, that some data will most certainly get mixed up (delegates, acl, rules, userdata that has been resolved to a user).

A better way would be to use the steps outlined on this page:
The script linked in this post will not convert delegate information, in case you are interested I could send you an updated internal version that will do.

    Hello Felix,

I have to migrate more than 170 active accounts. Therefore it would be great, if you could send me the updated version of the script. Thanks a lot!

    Hello Felix,

I'm also in the process of switching from (user plugin) db to ldap.

Your script is highly welcome, thank you very much!

Since I'm not a perl guy, I have to ask: your new converter-perl-script converts
*) object ids for email stores
    *) address books
    *) delegates
    *) rules
    is this correct?

But active/non active users must be set with zarafa-admin?

zarafa-admin still works with the ldap plugin?

Migration is one way? Only restore will revert?

    What is still missing?
(I better give a warning before changing, not let my client find lost configs...)

    kind regards,
    Eugen

    Hello,

I also want to migrate from DB to LDAP ADS.

I am testing in a test setup. So far everything works, except the shared mailboxes and non-active users. The shared mailboxes are off course also non-active. The conversion went without errors, but all non-active users are gone. Is there a way that they also convert?

Can i make the non-active, active before the conversion, and after conversion change back to non-active? But the license doesn't meet the number of active mailboxes then... Will this give a problem?

    Also i read this post
Do you still have to clean the NK2 files on the clients?

    Kind regards,

    Hi,

i am using Zarafa 7.2 and i also want to migrate my users from db to ldap.

The link with the script points to a non existing file. Is there an up to date version available?

    Regards

    Richard
