    Hi,

probably someone from Zarafa should answer that but what I suspect is that it means that they generate the alpha packages that you can download in the
partner portal automatically based on the current release.
The ZWS packages depend on the current Zarafa release when it comes to version checking e.g. 7.1.8.

    Hello Steffen,

this indeed only means that the ZWS packages will be automatically generated by our buildsystem.

For RPM based distributions there is a small howto on our wiki:
but for Debian based systems its simply a dpkg -i zarafa-ws*.deb the rest ist client side. So no more magic and therefore no real documentation about it. ;-)

As it is alpha software if won't be included in the standard download packages for now. Aim is to have it working in the first place with Apple Mail/iCal,etc and then compatible with Outlook for Mac. What works and what not can be found in the readme included with the archive.
    Regards Felix

    Hello Felix,

Thank you very much. That explains the entry in the ChangeLog. I just wanted to know if I was missing something.

ZWS Alpha 3 is running with Mail/Calendar/Contacts working fine! No public Folder Support, no Notes and no ToDos...

NOT CIO-prooved at th Moment.... Better wait on stable release promised from Zarafa-Sales on SEP Partner Summit for Summer!

Does that mean that the Linux email "Evolution" can connect now to Zarafa-server without the use of IMAP/CalDav/Z-Push... ?

Yes, the feature set is rather limited, currently still in alpha stage and will be abandoned later.

Does that mean we can use Evolution to use MAPI to connect to Zarafaserver? But which client do I need to install then?

No, you cannot use MAPI to connect Evolution to Zarafa. But you could indeed give ZWS a try for that (but the last time I tried it did not work for me).
