Distribution Upgrade from Debian 6 (Squeeze) to Debian 7 (Wheezy)

    Hello everybody,

I have to upgrade a server from Debian Squeeze (6.0.7 / 2.6.32-5-amd64) to Wheezy running ZCP 7.1.3-40304 and WebApp 1.3-41013.
I wanted to ask for the right procedure for upgrading this system.

Do I have to update ZCP/Webapp to the latest version first?
Do I have to reinstall the packages for Zarafa after the distribution upgrade?
What's the best way to get through this?

This is my first attempt with upgrading a Debian with Zarafa running on it, so any tips or help are much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,

    I would do the following:

    - update Zarafa to the latest version available for Debian Squeeze
    - update Debian from Squeeze to Wheezy
    - reinstall packages of Zarafa from the Wheezy package to fix (potential) broken dependencies.

    Hi Felix,

    thanks for your reply.

I followed your instructions but there was a little problem:
    That's what I did:
    1. Updated Zarafa to the latest version for Squeeze (ZCP 7.1.8 / Webapp 1.5)
    2. Run the dist-upgrade to Debian Wheezy
    3. Tried to install the ZCP 7.1.8 packages for Debian Wheezy which ended in several errors.
    4. Run apt-get update followed by apt-get -f upgrade (which installed some packages)
    5. Tried to install ZCP 7.1.8 packages for Debian Wheezy without errors

Until now it seems to work fine. Let's wait for the users testing it tomorrow.

    Regards Daniel

    Hey cocolocko,

I'm sorry for my late answer to your question.
Until now I haven't had any further problems with those upgraded systems.
Seems to work like a charm.

    Cheers!

I have done it this way as well. Using 7.1.10 zarafa on Debian.

One thing to watch for is if you have a NFS Mount, mounted to the machine bein upgraded, you need to disconnect that, or doing the dist-upgrade will fail. No need to worry, Debian will fix everything as usual once you disconnect the share, but it is better for your nerves to disconnect it right from the beginning.
